The official name is "One World Trade Center"

The Freedom Tower name is out. One World Trade Center is in. The agency that owns the site said in the year 2009 .the 1,776-foot skyscraper, tallest Building in the western hemisphere, replacing the towers destroyed on Sept. 11, 2001, will be known as One World Trade Center.

There is much to see and much to do at the One World Trade Center, from the beautiful One World observatory with its 360° view on top of the tallest Building of the western hemisphere, 9/11 memorial Museum and the two waterfall fountains representing the two towers that were destroyed in the Sept 11 attacks.

Prepare yourself to be overwhelmed by the design, beauty and majesty of ground Zero, the place where less than 20 years ago, more than 2900 people lost their lives and more than 6000 others were injured. Miraculously 24 people were pulled out alive from beneath 30 feet of rubble.

All of these names and more are given to this sacred ground in the lower Manhattan site of the terrorist attack on September 11th, 2001.

3 Tips on how to get even closer...

By far, Liberty State Park is the best place to view the Statue of Liberty from it's long and beautiful boardwalk . It is the less crowded side to take the ferry to Ellis Island and Liberty Island, if that wasn't enough, you will be treated with an awesome view of the downtown New York City Skyline.

1.If you want to see Lady Liberty up close and personal..

..take the ferry to Liberty Island and give yourself the option to explore her pedestal or enter all the way to the crown(for this you will need to register yourself few months in advance). That will require a lot of walking but many people have decided to stay in the ferry ,get the close up pictures and then get back to the Park.

2. You will get a great view of the Statue of Liberty, downtown Manhattan NY and Ellis Island, from the 2 miles long and beautiful boardwalk at Liberty State Park.

Do not take the views from this boardwalk for granted , it draws over four million visitors a year and growing, plus the Park is well kept with no shortage of clean restrooms and plenty of free and paid parking.

3. Flag Plaza/ Black Tom Island at Liberty State Park.

This is by far the closest place on the Liberty State Park grounds to see the Statue of Liberty without taking the ferry , it is a very peaceful area of the park with plenty of free parking, but in this very ground more than a 100 years ago the German government ,at war with the allies in world war 1 , staged a sabotage on a weapons depot at Black Tom Island and the explosion was felt more than 90 miles away in Philadelphia and it is because this explosion that the Lady's torch has been closed off to visitors.
